Visit in Torrevieja with Erasmus+

19.10.2023

Our Erasmus+ KA122 project called We learn together started in April 2022 ended in October 2023. Our last visit was with 9 students from 9.B and 9.D classes (September 15 – 22) in a middle school in Spanish town Torrevieja. Project week started on Saturday when international students team played games and volleyball on a beach. Students spent Sunday with hosting families.

On Monday morning we went to a lake with salty water andrare species of animals and birds. We saw a flamingo there. In the afternoon, the teachers and I walked through the city centre.

On Tuesday, we toured the school and together with the art class we drew a picture on the wall with motives from Ostrava and Torrevieja. In the afternoon we went on a trip to the nearby town of Guadalmar to see the ruins of a medieval castle.

The next day we visited the city of Cartagena, where there is an old Roman theatre that was discovered in 1988 because itwas hidden under buildings which were built on the tops of the ruins. In the afternoon, together with the teachers, we all tried the dragon boats. The waves were quite high.

On Thursday, we attended a lecture about extracting salt from water and about flamingos. Then we took the tourist train to a lake where salt is mined. Water in the lake is pink due to the presence of bacteria. We had to say good-bye to our hosts and move to Alicante. On Friday, we got up at 3 o'clock in the morning in order to catch our flight to Pardubice airport. Our new friends will arrive to Ostrava in October.
