eTwinning project "The world without borders: Music and literature "
Pupils from classes 8.B and 8.D worked on topics Music and Literature in February. Pupils talked and wrote about their favourite music styles, singers, songs and books. They listened to the famous song "Imagine" by John Lennon on 23 February before the war broke out in Ukraine. Our planned online meeting with school from Cherkasy had to be cancelled. We also had to cancel project online meeting of all partners because Ukrainian schools from Lyman, Cherkasy, Bila Tserkva, Kherson and Odesa could not participate due to war.
We contacted our partners on 8 March, International Women´s day and asked how they were doing. Here are their answers:
Our February partner, teacher Olena from Cherkasy:
"There is war in Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and bombing our cities and towns. A lot of schools were bombed and destroyed. There are aid raid sirens in my city 3,4 times a day, we are hiding in the basement, millions of children have been and are evacuated, of course, they are closed. They say that, maybe, in the territories where there are no battles there will be distant or other types of learning since Monday. We are praying. Hope for God and our army.
It is so sad and unbelievable that in the 21st century troops of the neighbouring countries are allowed to kill innocent people. I am crying every day. Dear Alena, I would like to say thank you for your country's support. God will bless you for your deeds."
Viktoria from Odesa:
"We have sirens 7-10 times a day. Now we are having holidays at schools all over Ukraine. Since the next week we are going to start distant learning in Odesa. Technically I understand how to do it, but as for children many of them are abroad or out of the town. They won't be able to join online lessons. I've never thought that my granny's stories about World War II will come true reality.
I don't think about myself and my safety. I think about our children and their future. I want them to be free in their native country and to be owners of their native land. I will do everything for this. First days we ran to shelters, now we stay home and don't react on sirens.
Many friends of mine from abroad called me to visit them but i stayed here because this is my land the land of my forefathers and i will fight for it up to the end."
Viktoria from Bila Tserkva:
We have sirens 10-12 times a day. We hide in the bathroom or in a hall.
Svetlana from Kherson:
"Our city is occupied. There are problems with products and medicals. But Russian aggressors don't give any opportunity for tracks with humanitarian aids to enter the city. Fights around Kherson are constant. Yesterday the enemy tried to bomb us from the sky but our brave military aviation could eliminate it. I can't understand how it will be distant learning. Mobile and Internet connection is awful or missed."
Olga from Lyman:
Happy to hear all our friends! It means we are still alive!!! God save us! Pray every day! Our spirit can't be broken! We also help our soldiers and children from ruined cities. I wish everybody peaceful quiet days and nights and only good news about our Victory
Our pupils Dan, Karolína, Adri, Ondřej, Daniel, Ondra, Daniel, Dan, Tobiáš, Adam a Valentýna
